Frequently asked questions
How does payment work?
Renters pay up front when they book, and payments are processed by Stripe. SwingShare never sees or stores your card details. Funds are released to the host as a payout after the booking is confirmed.
What's the SwingShare fee?
SwingShare keeps a 15% platform fee, taken from the host payout. The host receives the remaining 85% of the booking total. That fee covers payment processing, the listing platform, and in-app messaging.
What if gear is damaged or not returned?
The rental agreement is directly between the host and the renter. SwingShare is a platform that connects the two parties — we facilitate discovery, booking, payments, and messaging, but we are not a party to the rental and do not currently provide insurance, damage coverage, or dispute mediation.
We strongly recommend that both the host and the renter document the gear's condition with photos at pickup and at return. Hosts should only list gear they're comfortable renting out and arranging directly with renters.
How do I get paid as a host?
Connect your bank account through Stripe from your host dashboard (Stripe handles identity and bank verification). Once a booking is confirmed, your 85% payout is sent to that account by Stripe.
When do payouts arrive?
Payout timing is handled by Stripe and typically lands in your bank account within a few business days of a confirmed booking, depending on your bank and Stripe's payout schedule.
Can I cancel?
Cancellations are arranged between the host and renter. Because the rental is an agreement directly between the two of you, communicate early through in-app messaging if plans change. Any refund is processed back through Stripe.
